I guess it depends on whether or not you don't mind being tracked and pestered with popup ads and etc.

A local restaurant might glean a few extra customers by posting their information on here, as well as on Facebook. Couldn't hurt.

I don't get pop-up ads from Facebook. Some people sign up to Facebook with a nickname and throwaway email address like one from yahoo. No hassles that I have ever seen.

I've never seen a pop-up ad on Facebook either. You can set your privacy options from strictly the people you choose to "friend", to wide open publication.

FWIW, we had a take-out pizza from Perry's Friday evening and it was as good as ever.

If that is what you believe, you clearly don't know very much about Facebook.

When Facebook adopts the "right to be forgotten", I may withdraw my basic objection to it; the forever aspect.
 Example follows:
Damnfool teenagers often post material and photos which their mature selves ten years later wish they hadn't.
(I know at least one: my granddaughter).  As it stands, their employers and anyone else can see all of this.  Anything posted sticks around forever.  This is Big Brotherism at its most insidious and it's not difficult to imagine the future political implications. Young people often get suckered into what turns out later to be dangerously incendiary political groups.
Most don't think about it; it's such a wonderful opportunity to connect in many directions, so they go for it.  Fine; nobody is forcing them. I, personally, think the basic purpose can do more harm than good in the long run and refuse to participate; in the spirit of Don Quixote. One old lady whistling in the dark, realizing full well that, as with the Borg: "resistance is futile. You WILL be assimilated". Suspect

Of course people shouldn't expect to get all the connectivity without joining up.  Choices.

Luckily I am not a teenager and am fully aware of the pros and the cons of social media. Although I have strict privacy settings I never write/post anything I would not want the entire world to see. And I am too old to worry about repercussions coming 20 years from now. Hope my great-great-grandchildren read my page and think I was an insane woman.

I use a cookie-blocker and facebook tries to follow nearly every page I use. You aren't paying facebook but if a company is paying for a page, it should be available to anyone, not just those who don't care if their every move is tracked. I doubt that the companies I can't use because their information is hidden will go out of business because of me.

And knowing the ethics of facebook, I expect your stats are highly exaggerated CBob

Re: WHAT'S WITH PERRY'S PIZZA?

Post by Chapalagringa on Mon Jun 12, 2017 9:27 pm

I'm sorry to hear there's problems with Perry's Pizza, it really was very good and he worked so hard to be the best in town.

We quit going there 2 Christmas' ago when we saw the guy making pizzas drop the towel for cleaning the working table, the one he made the pizzas on, onto the floor, reach down and then put the towel right back on the working table for wiping.  That was the last time we went there.  Since we never told anyone except our family about the towel and why we don't go there and there's been no reports of illness, I don't think the sanitation effected anyone. I hope the guy never did that again but it was enough to make us not want to return.

My daughter and son still tell me my pizzas are the best.  I wish I could make everyone some but it's too much work for me.   I think we had our last big wood fired pizza party a week ago.  I couldn't do it all.  My friend convinced me to order the crust from some man that makes it in town for different pizza places.  I made my marinara sauce and had the good cheese.   My friends helped me. One rolled out the dough, I don't roll my pizza dough I use fingers and hand toss a bit but I couldn't do it.  They assembled all the pizzas for about 35 people.   I transferred them to the oven and my husband finished baking them.  They came out in about a minute. Took about an hour.  If the oven is up to temp, it would have taken no longer than 3-5 min to assemble and bake.  We like the pizzas to set up a few minutes after baking so the cheese doesn't slide off when cutting.  Ready in 5 min, assembled, hot fresh pizza at a restaurant with a wood fired oven at 800 degrees is no problem.   Therefore, arriving 5 min later and then driving the pizza home, may have been long enough to get cold although, I kind of doubt it unless it was chilly out.  It's been rather warm lately.

What happened to Perry?

Perry wasn't there on the last visit, which probably explains why the pizza wasn't up to his usual standard.  As far as I know, he's still the owner and nothing has changed.  It does seem to be true that things go downhill when a restaurant owner isn't there watching over the operation.

Perry went to Colorado to visit his sister for two weeks, so that is the main reason service has gone down. I believe it will be back to normal when he returns. By the way, his Kung Pao chicken on Wed. is awesum

Stopped going to Perrys a year ago after having dinner with my husband and having to listen to perry and his friend, both drunk I believe bragging about getting BJ's from women and basically degrading women, when we left he said hope to see you soon and I told him that I would never set foot in his restaurant again and that he was a pig, have never been back! Good luck to the two new pizza places in town.

Not surprising that a vocal Trump supporter is also a misogynist pig who degrades and disrespects women even in front of his customers. I wish the best for the two new pizza places.

Ha! And I thought it was just me. The last time I ate there with some friends was like 6 months ago or so. We were in conversation about the political problems in the US, when a blond a few tables away turned to us and screamed out loud something about her candidate Trump and then ran out of the restaurant. Bizarre.
..That is the last time I will eat there. Personally I could care less about the political choices nowadays in the US, I just wanted to eat my slice of pizza in peace.
