Advice Please

Post by Trailrunner on Thu Sep 21, 2017 4:05 pm

I am going to slowly transition Louie from homemade dog food to raw diet, we think he is a perfect candidate due to all his allergies.

First time tonight, do I feed it frozen or defrost it???

I was told that feeding cats very cold food is bad. So I bet you should warm the dog food up to room temperature and mix a little of it with what he is eating now slowly changing what he is eating from the old to the new

That is just an opinion, I aint no expert.

I think that's good advice and pretty much what I did. It's solid rock and you can't cut it until it thaws some anyway. Yes, poco poco.

I leave ours in the fridge all day to thaw and feed the first day's meal slightly frozen. Good for cleaning teeth

Man, this raw food must be good! Louie loves it and he is already licking and chewing his paws less and is a bit calmer. Can't wait until he's fully transitioned.

Where do you get yours, Flamingo?

I buy it at the Tuesday Market. Before he died, Sam was on BARF for years and he was so much healthier. Now I am giving it to Hobbs (new mini-Schnauzer) because Mono says it is icky and won't eat it.

Hah!
I bought it at their store, Marlowe's former store, they have it there as well as Tues. Mkt. Seems easily available, hope the business is stable.
