Best T.V to buy?

Post by oncesubtle on Fri Sep 29, 2017 4:29 pm

We're looking for a large screen T.V. The problem is we have precious little knowledge as to what all the do-dads are or if they are important. Stuff like LED vs. whatever, HD, curved screen, 1080 etc. So we're asking for advise from those in the know and more specifically; All things considered, which brand would you buy?

Thanks in advance for your considered opinions, it is appreciated.

Bob and Candace

I would get a Samsung 1080 DPI LED Smart TV. The smart part let's you watch Netflix, etc without requiring a secondary device (it is built into the TV). The TV connects wirelessly to your modem. Of course you can still watch your cable, satellite, etc.

The curved screens are still quite expensive.........

In Mx I would go to Costco and price wise get the biggest Vizio they carry. Pay for the extended 3 yr. warranty. You now have 5 years. We paid Geek Squad (Best Buy) to set it up and tune us in. Money well spent by Ludites. Geek Squad has a plan here in Canada. It's $20/month. All visits are then $50/hora. They'll come out and teach you shit.
Re Costco. Online purchases probably include free delivery. 70 " TVs are cumbersome. The kind older savvy Costco employee who helped load our new TV in a borrowed van gave me advice. Save the receipt, register your extended warranty and save the packing. Mark your calendar and a couple of weeks before the 5th anniversary pack it up and take it back. He said they just don't care 'cause you're just going to take your refund and buy a new, the latest, TV. Blew my mind.
My wife's elated response to this new device proves, size does matter.

4K is only good if you have a 4K signal to put up into it. You won't get 4K here from Telecable, any of the satellite systems or streaming services. Personally I wouldn't waste any extra $$$ on it down here. I would put that $$$ into picture size although most of them might have the 4K now whether you want it or not.

I have found Walmart here to have a fairly good selection that is competively priced.
