Accident

Post by Trailrunner on Thu Oct 12, 2017 7:56 pm

Another bad accident at. . .guess! Yep, you got it. The WM intersection. This time it was a cement truck rollover and by the time I tried to get through it if there were any victims they were gone just FD mopping up after what looked like a small fire. Lots of fire trucks, one blue and white cement truck laying on it's side, transitos darting about, shell-shocked looking people, and bumper to bumper traffic for a long ways in both directions.

Just passed through about 8:30pm. They had the truck back on its wheels and attached to a tow truck

Traffic was back to normal

And they are adding a small hospital/clinic at that corner that will bring in a few dozen more cars and add to the turning problems. Brilliant.

Being the only major intersection in the area and the truck route for SAT, Ajijic, SJC and beyond it is no surprise that this is where the big accidents happen. Having the hill and the "no engine brake" sign is icing on the cake......

It's been mentioned before, but it would prevent a lot of accidents if there were a truck escape turnoff lane for those who lose braking power.

I think the new hospital will be located at the corner of the entrance to the fracc, on the Libramiento, between Vista Alegre and Chula Vista Norte, if and when it happens.  I think the fracc, is named Rancho Alegre, or something like that.

There will be two new hospitals, the one across from Chula Vista and the second across from El Dorado, (not at the intersection of carretera and libramiento according to picture with Dr.).

Like in the states a run-a-way truck lane (with the stopper being 100 yards of deep sand at the end) would save lives, the vehicle, all collateral damage and insurance premiums. Now there's four good reasons why "they" won't do it.

Oh and one more reason, the cost/vs out come is basically nothing.

Are you saying there will be two hospitals, almost directly across the libramiento from each other? Why would they do that? That seems odd.

Chula Vista is on the caraterra near the Hole in One facility which is where one of the proposed hospitals is to be. Not to be confused with Chula Vista Norte which is a gated community on the libramiento.
