Violence in MX

Post by Hensley on Tue Mar 06, 2018 11:43 am

Mexico recorded its most violent year in at least two decades in 2017 but some analysts believe 2018 could be even worse. Maybe news like this will convince not so many people to come.

2018 is an election year so on top of the cartel there will be a bunch of killing between the different parties, it always happens in election years..

Yes, there a definite uptick in criminal actions around these parts too from break-ins to kidnappings and extortion. Perhaps the cartels are feeling the pinch from dwindling marijuana revenues.....

I live up in Dolores Hidalgo, GTO, one city away from San Miguel. Check out the San Miguel Times paper and see that Guanajuato is having a banner year for murders.Rigjt here in Dolores, (60,000 people) there were 5 murders on Friday morning and one more that night. Several over the weekend and 5 more a few hours ago on Monday night after sunset. Cops just killed 3 more who opened fire on them a few moments ago. The roads are closed, nobody coming in or going out of Dolores, military everywhere. Election year... killing will increase. My other house is in San Antonio, TX, where there might be 3 murders per week in the 6th largest city in the nation. So far this year there have been 700+murders in the state of Guanajuato.

Everyone check SEDENA as to your rights to own guns in your house. If you are allowed, you may register 10 different guns to keep in your home. ABSOLUTELY FOLLOW THE LAW.Do not keep unregistered firearms in your home. You may also keep unregistered air rifles and (non-CO2) air pistols as sporting items in your home. I use air guns in Texas to hunt feral hogs and 200 pound axis deer. You can keep compound bows as sporting items, without registering them with SEDENA but you MUST HAVE YOUR BORDER CROSSING CUSTOMS CERTIFICATES FOR YOUR AIR RIFLES AND COMPOUND BOWS. You can be charged with smuggling (basically, not paying import duties) if you don't pay your taxes at the border. (16% of value) You can also convert a wrist brace slingshot into a 40 or 50 pound arrow slinger. I also carry a tactical knife, legally. My MMA instructor says frequently that "you have the right to intelligently defend yourself." He knows I go to 29 different countries and I live by that wherever I go. Prevention and smart street thinking will keep you out of most jams. I've lived in Mexico since 1989, and full time since 2009. You can be safe here, with God's help.
