Juan's Blog

Post by CanuckBob on Tue Aug 30, 2011 5:53 pm

Our esteemed member Juanrey has been writing a blog of his adventures in Mexico since arriving last June. It is a great read for those thinking of making the move and old timers alike. It gives me quite a few laughs. With his permission, I put a link to it at the top of the board beside the movie listings. Check it out.........

Thanks for adding this link. . . alot of good observations and interesting reading. We've been here now for three years and looking back can relate to a lot of what Juanrey is saying . . .and it's still an adventure!

Very nice blog. Even after 12 years here I can relate, and still occasionally experience the same frustrations.

Keep up the good work Juan.

Cool thanks. Those are amazing but they don't do that much on the coast. I understand how they hold together once complete but before the arch is complete ???

That was a great and fascinating entry on the construction of an arched boveda ceiling. Thanks for writing it.

While I didn't have an "inside during construction" view of it, I have seen one turn out badly, as seen from the outside of the house, anyway. The arch was not even by any stretch, sort of looked like a sick egg of a roofline from across the street. So it really does take a maestro to do it right. Some of the more elaborate ones are truly amazing…..

Juanrey - Thanks for the link and the education on the art of constructing an arched boveda ceiling. I've made your blog a favorite and look forward to your next post.

Hi Juan,
I visited Lake Chapala for several weeks in Feb 2011. Weather was great. I am so glad Juan did his blog, In reading I became more convinced to move down for maybe 6 months and see if I want to stay. Thanks Juan for doing this. My move will be easier since I am moving alone with no pets. Too bad you are not a golfer and could have gave me an idea of the golf scene. Bill

I have been reading his blog as well. But nothing since June 2016. I hope he is okay. Or perhaps as he mentioned there is not as much to write about after being there for 5 years.

Life's events have a way of taking over and yes, after 5 years, it does make it a bit more challenging thinking of interesting things to share.  But things have calmed down enough for me to share my 5 year perspective.  Latest blog update 28 Agosto 2016 here
