texas to mexico trip?

Post by elgringo on Wed Aug 04, 2010 8:25 pm

I live in Ajijic and want to drive my jeep down to keep in Mexico. what is the best route and crossing to take? McAllen, Del Rio, or Laredo ? Also what are the roads like and what should I expect. I have a Mexican friend in Ajijic, I had thought about asking him to ride with me in case anything should happen. My spanish is not that great. Any help or suggestions would be helpful.

I'm not sure of the best route but would definitely take a Spanish speaking friend if they are willing and available.

(Not that you need any wise-ass suggestions but...) If you bring one of those Cowboy cheerleaders the crossing, route and roads or your ability to speak Spanish won't matter. Twisted Evil

Columbia is a better crossing than Laredo. I have crossed at Reynosa too. From either head south to Monterrey, Saltillo,Zacatecas and Guad. Lizzy

PS There are sites online where you can get road reports. Check with your Mexican auto insurance people.
