FM radio Repeater station is again transmitting at 107.1 FM in Ajijic

For those of you driving in Ajijic, it would be fun to listen to an English language FM radio station being retransmitted from Boston, MA and 107.1 on your FM radio dial. Now because this is a legal repeater, the signal is very weak. And although it comes in very well in central Ajijic, the signal gets very weak and eventually dies when one approaches Superlake to the East and goes over the hill on the West side of Ajijic.

The radio station is the NPR (National Public Radio Station) which is transmitted from many stations throughout the US. This particular station is originally broadcast from Boston and has the call sign of WBUR. The signal is being picked up over the internet and then retransmitted over a very low wattage and therefor legal repeater station located somewhere in central Ajijic.

The person providing this legal service is a snowbird, I guess from or near Boston. I met him once three years ago and I would love to thank him again, but I can't remember his name. So I will say it here.

Now because the Ajijic source of this station is the internet, we can anticipate buffering upon occasion or even outages should the internet go down. If you are in Ajijic, try listening over your car or home FM radio at 107.1. You will like it.

You can hear virtually any radio station using a WiFi radio. I can listen to WBUR 90.9 FM on my Bose ST-10.

Yes I can do that as well using a simple app on my cell phone and then connecting it to whatever.

What is nice about this option is that we don't have to connect to the internet to stream the station, rather we can turn on the radio in the car, when driving, if one is lucky enough to do most of his driving near Ajijic.

It's like having one station from a SiriusXM on your car radio that you can understand and you don't have to pay for it :)
